7 Tips to Increase Your Level of Motivation

1 – Start doing anything, however small.

The important thing is to get up and take only the first step and then everything becomes easier. For example, if you have to do some job that you find unpleasant or boring, like cleaning the house, set a goal to just clean a window. Once underway, you can propose the next step.

2 – Make a list of your motives and do not forget.

If you set out to order the cellar, it is because you like to have things neat, because you will feel better or because you have a more positive feeling when you enter it and see everything tidy. If you set out to study for a test, thought to want to have the summer off rather than pass it studying or whatever reason you want to pass that test. Therefore, when you fail motivation, remember what your reasons are to move forward.

3 – Visualize the result

Imagine you have reached your goal, the sense of accomplishment and triumph and positive results you get.

4 – Do things you enjoy

No doubt what motivates a person is something what he/she enjoys doing it. If you love photography, you will have a high motivation to sign up to do a course. If you like to go out for a run, you will be motivated to exercise. If you look at your life and see that most of the things do not motivate you at all, it may be time to make some changes.

You can start by asking why you do what you do and decide if it is really worth to keep doing. If your daily life has got a lot of tedious tasks, you need to start doing things that you like to be motivated. Thus, it will be easier to face the most boring tasks and obligations because they also have more pleasant results to compensate.

5 – Practice mindfulness with everything you do

If you have to do something about what you are unmotivated about, you can look at it as an opportunity to practice mindfulness. Not only will it become the less boring task and increase your motivation, but also your mind will be relaxed and enjoy the many benefits of mindfulness.

6 – Feed your mind and your life

A general lack of motivation may be because your life has become monotonous and boring in which there is hardly anything new or challenging. Imagine you had to always eat the same tasteless mash for breakfast lunch and dinner, surely you lose much appetite. If your life has become a tasteless puree, a good way to start changing is to read whether books, magazines, websites, blogs or anything that stimulates your mind to bring come up with new ideas to think or act.

7 – Control your environment as much as possible to help motivate you.

For example, having a slow computer which constantly crashes does not motivate much at work. Having to study or work in an unpleasant, cold, dark or noisy atmosphere is discouraging. Being surrounded by passive and unenthusiastic people and ambience is a poison to your motivation. Therefore, try to create yourself a favorable environment.
