What Should You Know About Changing The Cabins Air Filter?

First of all, let us know what is meant by cabin air filter because some people confuse this word with internal combustion air filter. Cabin air filters are filters used for ventilation of air inside a vehicle to make the air free of dust, pollution, bacteria etc. Because if the air inside your vehicle is polluted you can get lung problems. On the other hand internal combustion air filters stops dust particles or other pollutants from getting into engine. These filters are attached to clean the air which is going into engine otherwise it can cause damage to your vehicles engine. These filters are attached under the hood.

Some manufacturers use the word air condition filters for cabin air filters. These filters are located in different parts of car like in air conditioning system. It can be located near front seat or behind the glove box.

A cabin air filter which is not clean will not work efficiently. Because of dirty air filters the air condition inside the vehicle will not work properly. The amount of air floe inside the vehicle will be decreased. Both of these situations are harmful for human being as he will not be able to breathe in clean air. This can cause breathing and lung problems.

When to Change?

A person should change his cabin air filter every 15000 to 20000 miles or once a year. It also depends upon the vehicle you are using, so do not forget to check your owner’s manual list.

Location

In different cars air filters are located in different location. Like in some cars it is inside air conditioner cabin. It can also be located near front seat or behind glove box. So you should check your manual list first. If you don’t have the manual list just search on Google you will obviously find the location of your vehicles air filter.

How to Change?

Changing air filter is an easy work. But it can be difficult as well depends upon the type of vehicle.

Just remove the glove box. After removing it find the location of filter housing. Now find where the removable plastic filter cover is. Now carefully remove the filter, now you can install the new cabin air filter but don’t forget to clean the chamber as it may also contain impurities especially dust.

This method is of changing air filter when it is located behind the glove box don’t forget to check the location of yours vehicle air filter. Cabin air filters have two types: one is particulate and other is activated charcoal.  Activated charcoal is more expensive but people with odor problem generally buy it.
